Malo e lelei! It has been quiet in the last few months or so. When we come online early last year (2007), I have to admit we were not so sure what to expect from a web-space on the internet and may be we did not fully appreciate how to manage, run or maintain such work. I think we were eager to make a jump and embrace the internet phenomena but little did we realise the depth of what we were jumping in to.

I am not sure we have figured it out yet – how to work through a website – but it does not mean we do not stop trying to push on with the work we have started and so, we may have been quiet, but quietly busy.

The initial focus of this website was the various “projects” we have been doing locally in Tonga. That is still very much the case. The Ha’apai Rugby Development Project was a success (read report). The ‘Uiha Kindergarten Building Project is on its final phase ready to open for use, thanks to Dr Vilaimi Latu and Mrs Kalolaine Tafa Moeaki (members of the Navei Incorporated), for overseeing these projects.

But as we work these various projects through the Navei Incorporated, we discover there are many willing hearts who are trying to make the same impact in the local communities in Tonga too. There are plenty of people who are putting there hands up trying to make a difference to urgent needs of local Tongans. The web-site www.iTonga.to is evolving into more than just focussing on the Projects that Navei Incorporated is involved with.

In the last couple of months there have been a lot of discussions - that the idea of developing this website into a space which allows for Tonga churches and Christian ministry(s) in Tonga to get online is much needed.

In another leap of faith, we feel we would like to do something like an online magazine for churches and any type of works by groups or individuals that focus on nourishing spiritual development. Again, there is no expectation of how this may look, but the desire to inspire people to bring to God their fears, their worries, their needs nudge us on.

We will try to give you updates of what is happening with the church in Tonga and of ministries, groups and individuals that are dedicated to making positive changes to the life others. When reading through the book of Acts, it describe how a small group of people, empowered by the Holy Spirit, preached, taught, healed and demonstrated love in churches (synagogues), schools, homes, marketplaces, and courtrooms, and on streets, hills, ships, and desert roads – where God sent them, lives and history were changed. This work is with a hope to inspire us all to carry on doing like-wise!
